Abstract

544,942. Transfers. McLAURIN-JONES CO. Aug. 1, 1940, No. 12462. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1939. [Class 100 (ii)] Transfer paper for printing transfers of the "slip off" type, comprises a sheet of porous paper having a coating comprising a water soluble adhesive and a water-resistant adhesive which causes the coating to become tacky upon moistening. The coating may comprise hydroresin, (a form of trihydroxylethylamine abietate) as the water resistant adhesive, alcohol, a wetting agent such as Igepon T and an animal glue as the water soluble adhesive, or may consist of a mixture of resin and castor oil as the water resistant adhesive, rubber latex, glue, ammonia and water. Or a mixture of rubber, zinc oxide or lithopone, and resin dispersed in naphtha, or rubber, cumar resin, zinc oxide and naphtha may be employed as the water-resistant adhesive. The usual starch coating on the transfer paper may receive a coating of dextrine before the special coating is applied.
