[Class 18] A paper, cardboard &c. box has opposite front and back panels 3, 6 provided with extension panels 8, 9 the combined length of which equals the distance between the panels 3, 6, each extension panel 8, 9 having a tongue 12, 13 hinged to tuck into the box parallel to the front and back 3, 6. Pleats 10. 11 are provided at the corners. which in a modification, have their inner segments connected by a web which pleats along lines parallel to the lines of junction of the box walls. Panel '1 serves in completing the tubular body. When one half lid is opened it may serve as a pourer spout. A modified form is shown in Fig. 9 in which all tuck-in extensions 25 may be of the same length, or, as shown, two may be elongated and perforated at 31, 32 so that when this half-lid is partially raised, a sprinkler top is formed. When the extensions 25 are all of the same length the gussets 34, 35 may have outward extensions which fold parallel to the front and back and lock the extension 25 in position. Only one end may be formed in the ways above described, the other end being closed in any known usual way. A gummed strip may be used to seal the closed end. Prismatic conical or other shaped boxes may be used and the walls may be curved. The ends may be integral or attached by gumming, stitching or friction.
