540,829. Drying cellulosic tubes. HEAVEN, G. S., JEFFERIES, L., and HEAVEN, H. S. April 29, 1940. Nos. 7675 and 14982. [Classes 34 (i) and 34 (ii)] A wet flexible tube produced from a cellulosic solution is dried by heating the distended tube 15, Fig. 1, by heat radiated from surrounding steam pipes 18 and simultaneously or afterwards forcing warm dry air from a fan 12 over the outer surface of the tube. The distended tube 23, Fig. 2, is held between nip rollers 25, 28 and is surrounded by two or more steam jacketed chambers 20. The drying air may be supplied to the chambers by separate fans. Specifications 540,829, 540.830, 541,089, 541,090, 544,434 and 544,585 are referred to.
