Oct. 7, 1940, No. 14983 [Class 34 (i)] To lessen the time required for drying a tubular film 29 such as a sausage casing by passing it in an inflated state through a drying chamber, the chamber is divided into a number of separate sections 11, 14 in which successive portions of the film are exposed on their outer surfaces to currents of air of varied and controlled humidity and temperature. A tubular film is guided through the sections and is heated by radiation from steam jackets 17 as described in Specification 540,829.
