Abstract
569,706. Drying cloth. DALGLISH, M COOK. M. C., DALGLISH, J. (trading a DALGLISH & SONS, J.), and LAURIE, K. S Sept. 7, 1943, No. 14682. [Class 34 (i)] In a cloth-drying unit for use in stenters, heated air is blown on to the surface of the cloth 1 through openings in upper and lower boxes 5, 6 supplied by fans 11 with air which, after leaving the boxes, has passed outwards, over upper and lower heaters 15, 16 along the outer sides of the boxes, into spaces 18 forming hot-air reservoirs from which the fans draw. The heaters comprise steam tubes between headers. The openings in the bottom and top respectively of the boxes 5, 6 are transverse slots 8 formed by flanged plates 7 spaced apart, the flanges 20, 21 being inclined so that the openings are directed forwardly and rearwardly on either side of the plane containing the axes of the fans. In another form, the walls of the boxes 5, 6 extend respectively to the roof and floor of the casing 10, and the ducts 13 extend through those walls, the connections 9 being omitted. Two or more such drying units may be arranged end to end in a single casing. According to the Provisional Specification, the two boxes 5, 6 may each be supplied by a single fan.
