Abstract

538,573. Electron oscillators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and GIBSON, W. T. Feb. 6, 1940, No. 2295. [Class 39 (i)] Resonators-such as described in Specification 537,490 for working with very high frequencies and comprising a pair of co-axial conductors with slots through which velocity modulated electron beams pass-are cooled by making the walls of the resonators hollow and circulating fluid therethrough. The walls may be formed of helical tubes with the turns brazed together. The central conductor may be hollow rod through which the fluid passes, the hole not communicating with the slots for the electrons.
