Abstract
582,241. Velocity-modulated tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., SCOTT, W. J., and WRIGHT, C. S. Jan. 26, 1943, No. 1335. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] In a klystron the resonators are coupled by one or more slots in their common wall, so dimensioned and positioned as to give approximately unity coupling between the resonators ; under such conditions it is only necessary to tune one of the resonators. The length of the slots is approximately one-half a wave length and they are generally parallel to the magnetic vector ; they may be straight as at 10 or circular arcs as at 11, 12. The slots 11, 12 may be of different length so as to give strongest coupling at different frequencies. The resonators may be tuned by deforming a flexible wall by a differential screw.
