[Class 44] [Also in Group XIII] In a refrigerator provided with one or more supplementary hinged doors 23, 24, Fig. 1, constituting open-fronted storage compartments, the doors may be latched to the main outer door 21 forming a flat closure of the cabinet so as to be opened therewith or may be opened separately in succession. The doors may be mounted about a common hinge 22 with multiple bent strips. A suitable fastening for the innermost of three doors comprises a pivoted catch 39, Fig. 9, actuated through separated spring plungers 12, 42a from a push button 43 on the outer door. A similar fastening may be used for the first inner door. Another fastening comprises a handle 51, Fig. 1, on the outermost door engaged by a torsion spring 51b with a catch 51d on a flange of the inner door, which itself is latched by a plunger 54 engaging a fixed hook 55. Pressure on a button 52 to release the doors together positions a pivoted dog 52a to engage a part 52b on the handle 51 to prevent its rotation.
