Receiving devices for doors and the like.-An outdoor receiving cabinet 2 for use on walls, fences, &c. is provided with a number of movable partitions 7, which are lowered to divide the cabinet into compartments as the space beneath a partition becomes occupied by goods inserted through the opening 3, which can be closed by the lockable lid 20, while a lockable door 10 closing an opening in one of the vertical walls of the cabinet gives access to all the compartments. As goods are inserted in the cabinet, the partition above is lowered to form a shelf for further goods, and a spring-actuated catch 9 projecting from its front edge snaps into or under a recess 11 &c. in or on the inner surface of the locked door 10; the uppermost partition, on being closed, abuts against the leg 14 of a striker 15 connected to spring-controlled sliding catch 18, and when the goods are placed on the partition the striker is depressed to move the catch 18 into position to engage a spring catch 19 provided on the lid 20, which is locked thereby when it is closed. The partitions are hinged to supports 6 on the back of the cabinet and each partition, except the lowest one, has a block 13 on its under surface which prevents it being lowered unless the partition below has been already lowered. Gauze ventilators 21 may be provided for each compartment and strips 22 space the cabinet from the wall &c. to which it is secured.
