Abstract

535,493. Recovery of fibres from waste water of paper manufacture etc.; froth flotation. JUELL, F. March 15, 1940, No. 4893. [Class 96] [Also in Group II] In flotation recovery of fibres from the back water of paper, cellulose, or wood pulp manufacture &c. gas, e.g. air from an injector 5 on the suction side of a centrifugal pump 1 to which it is fed from the pressure side through a pipe 4, is dissolved under pressure and liberated at a pressure below atmospheric, induced by the kinetic energy of the liquid escaping through a nozzle 6 with an adjustable flange 7, the subatmospheric pressure accelerating the separation of the gas. The back water overflows at 9 and the fibres are skimmed off, the clarified water flowing away through the bottom of a tank 2.
