Abstract

533,521. Rubber latex. FIRESTONE TYRE & RUBBER CO., Ltd. Aug. 18, 1939, No. 23860. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1938. [Class 70] Rubber latex which is substantially free from ammonia or the ammonia content of which has been reduced to less than 0.5 per cent. is thickened by adding a stabilizing agent and then a small amount of a fat derived acid such as oleic or stearic acid. The stabilizer may be the commercial product known as Aquarex D which is the sodium salt of the sulphate ester of a mixture of higher fatty alcohols consisting chiefly of the lauryl and myristol derivatives, or other stabilizers such as caustic soda, casein or soaps may be used.
