Abstract
532,650. Mixing charges. NEWEY, G. E. Sept. 19, 1939, No. 26133. [Class 7 (ii)] A baffle arranged between the carburetter and engine for mixing the charge comprises a pivotally mounted disc c having slots e cut therein as shown, through which the mixture passes when the disc is in the closed position shown in Fig. 1, with the throttle b closed or only partly open. When, however, the throttle is opened sufficiently, it contacts with a curved abutment f so as to rotate the baffle c to an open position allowing the mixture to pass around it. In a modification, the spindle n, Fig. 5, of the baffle is connected by an arm m to the throttle control mechanism. The baffle e may be rounded off at both sides, as in Fig. 1, or may be left cylindrical at one side, which then acts as a stop.
