Abstract

532,483. Valves. FAVART, L. F. Aug. 31, 1939, No. 25031. [Class 135] A plug-cock actuated by a screw threaded spindle separate from the plug has the plug and spindle so joined that while they move together axially the spindle can turn through a limited angle relative to the plug before the latter commences to rotate. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the spindle 11 has a screwthreaded part engaging a detachable cover 6 and is formed with a head 13 held in a cavity 14 in the larger end of the plug by a screwed ring 15 secured by a jam-nut 16. Ball bearings 17, 18 are interposed between the upper and lower surfaces of the head 13, the ring 15 and the bottom of the cavity 14. The larger end of the plug has an upstanding projection 19 engaging an arcuate slot 20 in the head 13 concentric with the axis of rotation whereby rotary movement is imparted to the plug. The open position is determined by the plug engaging the undersurface of the cover 6.
