Abstract

532,326. Valve relay circuits. TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and PADDLE, L. H. July 20, 1939, No. 21099. [Class 40 (v)] A differential relay R is operated by D.C. signal impulses applied to the terminals A, B or by A.C. signals applied to transformer 3 and rectified at 4, 5. Valves V1 and V2 are normally non-conductive and conductive respectively. A signal applied to the grid of V1 causes reduction of anode current of V2 which current passes through resistance 15, thus a positive feed-back is given to the grid of V1, and the anode current of V2 builds up very quickly. The decrease of current in relay coil 28 causes an increased voltage across resistance 17 and hence an increased current in the oppositely wound relay coil 29. Reverse action occurs when the signal ceases. Condenser 22 or 22a slightly delays the reverse action of the relay R.
