Abstract

552,062. Automatic exchange systems. BIRSS, R. R. Sept. 23, 1941, No. 12306. [Class 40 (iv)] In an impulse receiving arrangement for restoring distorted impulses to rectangular form, a thermionic valve V which controls the responding relay A is rendered conductive when the impulse circuit 10 is closed by the voltage across a resistance R1, and in addition a voltage kick is produced at the beginning and end of each impulse through a transformer TR1 to assist and quicken the response of the relay A. Alternatively, the voltage across the resistance R1 may be arranged to release a normally operative relay. A second correcting stage may be used if one stage is insufficient, and the circuit is also applicable as a second stage in the arrangement described in Specification 552,063 for correcting rectified A.C. impulses.
