836,027. Non - contact - making relays. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Aug. 17, 1956 [Aug. 18, 1955], No. 25251/56. Class 40(9). A circuit in response to a binary input produces one output representing the binary input and another output representing its complement and comprises a transformer T which has a winding 11 connected at one end to a source of clock pulses and at the other end to an output terminal 18, a winding 12 connected to an output terminal 20, and a winding 10 which is open or short-circuited under control of the binary input. In Fig. 1 a switch, shown as a transistor, is connected across winding 10 and on receipt of an input pulse 16 the winding which is normally open circuit is short-circuited. Input pulses, if they occur, coincide with negativegoing clock pulses. If, with no input pulse, winding 10 is open circuit, winding 11 has a large impedance and a voltage is induced in winding 12 to give an output at 20 representing the complement of the input, output 18 being held at earth potential by rectifier D3 and a constant current source 19. If winding 10 is short-circuited by an input pulse, winding 11 has a low impedance and no output is induced in winding 12, rectifier D3 being cut-off by the negative clock pulse to give an output at terminal 18. The winding 10 may be open-circuited by the input pulse and positive clockpulses may be used with positive input pulses.
