Abstract
798,578. Electrical digital-data storage apparatus. HUGHES AIRCRAFT CO. April 13, 1956 [June 3, 1955], No. 11372/56. Class 106 (1). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a circuit for storing intelligence from a signal source 23 and recovering it by an interrogating signal 15, the input is applied to a storage device 22 connected to an impedance 16 in the collector circuit of transistor 11, so that an output signal is produced in response to an interrogating signal applied after the input signal. The circuit is particularly applicable to a system where information has to be transferred from a high-speed device such as a magnetic drum and applied to a low-speed device such as a magnetic tape or vice versa. Upon an intelligence signal 41 being applied over rectifier 21 to capacitor 22 the potential at point A rises to follow curve 42, 45. Transistor 11 remains cut off until a negative-going interrogating signal 43 causes it to pass current through its collector circuit so that a pulse 44 appears at the output terminals 19. A diode may be arranged to suppress either the positive or negative-going part of the wave. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the transformer 16 is replaced by a resistor with the output fed through a blocking capacitor and diode to reject one sign of the output wave.
