529,176. Centrifugal pumps. TENNANT, W. J. (Jonkopings Mekaniska Werkstads Aktiebolag.). May 13, 1939, No. 14332. [Class 110 (i)) An electric motor 6 which drives a centrifugal pump 2 as used in hot-water circulating systems, is resiliently mounted on two vertical columns 5 which are screwed into the pump casing 3. For the purposes of sound insulation, rubber or soft metal sleeves 9 and washers 10 are interposed between the lugs 8 of the motor casing and the supporting column 5 and the pump shaft 4 and motor shaft 7 are connected by means of an elastic sleeve 17 of vulcanized rubber. The columns 5 may also be resiliently mounted in the pump casing and the shaft coupling may be of the leather-strap type.
