630,958. Electric motors. BYRON JACKSON CO. Feb. 12, 1946, No. 4320..Convention date, Aug. 1, 1944. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXVI] In a submersible pump driven by an electric motor, the motor casing 6 is supported within a tube 1 and the motor casing is totally immersed in a protective liquid kept under pressure from external sources and circulated in the casing by a pump 16. A liquid seal 18 is arranged between the motor casing and the impeller 19 which delivers into the annular space 20 and cools the motor. In a modification the protective liquid is stored under gas pressure in a chamber surrounding the tube 1 and connected to the motor casing. Specification 631,022, [Group XXVI], is referred to.
