Abstract

867,586. Centrifugal pumps. DURO CO. Dec. 27, 1957 [June 3, 1957], No. 40152/57. Class 110 (1). In the multi-stage submersible pump shown in Figs. 2 and 3, an inlet fitting 20 and a delivery fitting 86 are attached to the cylindrical pump casing 34 by socket head screws 36, 110. The diffusers are stacked together and clamped against the inlet fitting 20 by means of screws 104 acting through plungers 100 and a clamping ring 90, an 0-ring 92 being interposed between the ring 90 and the top diffuser 80 to provide a sealing fit against the casing 34. Bearing washers 50, 64 of polytetrafluorethylene or graphite are interposed between each impeller 42 and the adjacent diffusers, and the impeller eyes 44 and impeller hubs 60 are journalled in the diffusers. A non-return valve 116 is provided. Preferably, a sleeve 76 is fitted loosely on the splined pump shaft 70 to prevent the shaft from creeping upwardly sufficiently to disconnect coupling 72 from the splined shaft 16 of the driving motor 14. After removal of the delivery fitting 86, the impellers, diffusers, ring 90, shaft 70, sleeve 76 and coupling 72 can be lifted out as a unit, screws 96, nut 150, and associated washers keeping the parts in assembled relation. The bottom stator member 38 remains fixed to the inlet fitting 20.
