Abstract

1437532 Centrifugal pumps SEALED MOTOR CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 20 May 1974 [29 June 1973] 31193/73 Heading F1C A pump unit for central heating systems, includes a rotatable shaft 4 having the rotor disc 5 of an axial-gap electric motor mounted on one end and the pump impeller 1 on the other end. The unit includes a bearing assembly comprising a ceramic tube 6 rotatable with the shaft in a fixed sleeve 7, and rotatable ceramic thrust washers 11, 12 arranged to bear against the ends 9 of the sleeve. The tube 6 and sleeve 7 are secured by adhesives or interference rings and the thrust washers are located by springing-in, adhesives, rubber mounts or separate retaining rings. One of the thrust washers may be replaced by a flange integral with the tube 6.
