423,073. Drainage plant for mines. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. March 8, 1934, No. 7432. Convention date, April 11, 1933. [Class 85] [See also Group XXVI] In a pumping plant for mines comprising horizontal pumps 3, 4, an auxiliary pump 13 is employed for use in case of flooding, the pump 13 being gas and water tight and controlled from one or more distant points 2. The auxiliary pump preferably comprises a vertical shaft with aligned pump and electric motor. The switch of the motor driving the pump may be situated at the pump, or at the point 2, or at an intermediate point, but is operated from the point 2. The auxiliary pumps 13 of several pumping units may be controlled from one point 2. Alternatively, all the pumps employed may be gas and water tight. Indicators of the water level, presence of gas, and condition of the pumping plant may be arranged at the point 2.
