528,709. Bearings. MOND NICKEL CO., Ltd. May 12, 1939, No. 14286. Convention date, May 27, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing is composed of a base metal body and a coating of a bearing metal, the face of the base metal having a number of hills extending through the coating, so that the bearing surface consists of base metal areas surrounded by a matrix of bearing metal. The bearing metal may be an alloy of cadmium and silver, or any of the known bearing metals and may contain graphite. The base metal may be of steel, or an alloy of copper, aluminium or nickel. In manufacture the surface of the base metal is roughened, as by blasting with steel grit, and the bearing metal is applied by electro-deposition, spraying, or casting. Thereafter the surface is machined until about 20 per cent. of the base metal is exposed.
