Abstract

527,808. Blowpipe burners. BRITISH OXYGEN CO., Ltd., WOODHEAD, H. E., and PELL, P. W. April 21, 1939, No. 11984. [Class 75 (i)] Two or more gases such as oxygen and acetylene are supplied through separate passages 9, 10 displaced from the central longitudinal axis of the blowpipe to a mixing chamber formed between the frusto-conical end of the member 8 in which the passages 9, 10 are formed and a complementarily shaped impingement surface 7. The mixing chamber merges at its forward end into the throat 11 of a diverging expansion chamber 12 on which the burner nozzle is screwed. The passages 9, 10 preferably open into the mixing chamber on a common plane and are disposed at equal distances from the blowpipe axis.
