Abstract

527,620. Skating rinks. HALL, Ltd., J. & E., GODDARD, L. W. and GUTHRIE, A. G. July 13, 1939, No. 20431. [Class 20 (i)] An ice-rink floor consists of a non-watertight floor comprising slabs of asbestos-cement 5 laid directly upon the cooling pipes 8, which are disposed transversely upon wooden bearers 10, supported upon a waterproof foundation so that ice is formed above and below the floor. The pipes are connected by flexible couplings 9 to headers 6, 7 disposed beneath the floor 4, 5 of a passage, which is separated from the frozen surface by a partition comprising uprights 2 and boards 3. The edges of the slabs are secured by screws 12 to beams 17 disposed transversely between the main bearers or the two adjacent edges may be secured by a common strip 16 disposed along the joint.
