Abstract

527,491. Orchard heaters &c. BATY, J. H., and SIMONS, J. E. R. March 4, 1939, No. 7177. [Class 75 (i)] In an orchard or like outdoor heater, liquid fuel in a container 1 burns with a limited supply of air admitted through two holes 14 spaced at 120 degrees in the container wall, hole's 7 in a collar 6 surrounding a removable burner tube 3 fitting in a central orifice in the container lid, and a hole 10 in a removable tube 4. The combustion gases and oil vapours produced pass through holes 8 into the burner tube 3 and are completely consumed by combustion with air admitted through holes 9 in the upper part of the tube 3. As the fuel level falls in the container additional air is admitted to the primary combustion spaces through a slot 11 in the tube 4. The upper part of the tube 4 is formed with air inlets 13 covered by a cap 12. Combustion may be stopped by inserting a cover 15 on the tube 3. Specification 462,358 is referred to.
