[Class 75 (i)] An oil-fuel burner for use in domestic cooking ranges or stoves and for heating drying chambers comprises a burner pot 16 mounted by a stem 17 in an enlargement 10A of a horizontal cylindrical chamber 10 which is closed at its front end 13 and opens at its rear end into the stove. Air supplied through passages 29 to a detachable casing 12 enters the chamber 10 partly through two holes in a lid 15 covering an opening 14 in the chamber 10 and partly through radial passages 22 in an enlargement of the face plate 11 by which the chamber is secured to the stove. One hole 20 in the lid 15 is preferably triangular in section and tapers downwardly so as to cause the entering air to whirl over the pot 16. The other hole surrounds a drip-pipe 19 supplying fuel to asbestos or other refractory absorbent material in the pot 16. The air entering the passages 22 is regulated by rotating an apertured ring 24. Water may be supplied to a gutter 30 in the casing 12 to produce steam or air which is carried by the air into the chamber 10. Oil overflowing the pot 16 passes through a hole 18 in the stem 17 to a sump 32 in the casing 12 to which excess water also drains. The sump 32 is fitted with a drain nipple 33. The closure 13 may be removable.
