Abstract

860,091. Gas burners. PARKINSON COWAN Ltd. July 29, 1957 [Aug. 24, 1956], No. 23981/57. Class 75 (7). A gas burner has an annular chamber with the walls 29, 33 converging towards the top to leave a narrow circular aperture 34 at which the gases burn. An overhanging stepped edge 35, 36 of the inner wall 33 gives stable burning at low flows. The outer wall 29 is integral with a mixing tube extension 18 but the inner wall and stepped overhanging edge 35, 36 are provided by a cylindrical sleeve 33 which rests on an annular base portion 26 extending from the mixting tube to form the bottom of the gas chamber and by a separate ring 35 with stepped edge 36 and shouldered to rest on the top of the sleeve 33. The lower portion of the wall 29 extends outwardly at 25 whereby an internal shoulder 32 is provided to give a channel recess to which the mixing tube delivers the gas mixture. A central pan-engaging thermostat may extend through the sleeve; otherwise an air baffle is fitted within the sleeve.
