Abstract
706,360. Solid fuel burners. VALOR CO., Ltd. Oct. 2, 1952 [Oct. 5, 1951], No. 23204/51. Class 75 (1) A solid fuel burner of the perforated shell type comprising two concentric perforated tubes 19, 25 has the primary combustion effected in a space above the fuel in close proximity to an inner tube 11 of good heat conductivity. Thus a central air draft tube 11 passes up through the fuel and on this is supported the inner perforated tube 19 ; the fuel reservoir is larger than the mass of the fuel it is designed to contain in order to leave a chamber 13 into which the inner perforated tube 19 depends and which accommodates the increased volume of vaporized fuel. The tube 11 of copper or similar material is shouldered at 18 to support the inner perforated tube 19 and has round or elongated air holes 20 therein below the shoulder. A direct air supply or igniting hole 29 in the wall 16 of the reservoir is closed by a pivoted shutter 30 or by a thermostatically controlled closure member. A reservoir cover 23 providing a seating for the outer perforated tube 25 is detachably secured to the reservoir by a bayonet fastening Fig. 2 (not shown). The shell 19, 25 is surrounded by an imperforate apron 31 which is attached to the outer perforated tube 25 by an imperforate annular cap 33 and is supported by cross-rods 32. A dished cap 34 provided with a central aperture 35 is seated on or secured to the upper end of the inner perforated tube 19.
