816,205. Liquid fuel burners. LEVEY, L. W. Aug. 20, 1956 [Aug. 30, 1955], No. 24823/55. Class 75(1) In a fuel oil burner of the perforated shell type consisting of interconnected concentric cylindrical perforated shells 21, 22 mounted above a circular channel 6, the inner shell 21 is open at the bottom and closed at the top by a plate 25 having an opening 26 for the air and a transverse baffle 31 is arranged near the lower end of the shell 21 to restrict downward radiation of heat. The plate 25 is of inverted conical shape and carries a similar shaped top member 28, a wire coil 29 being mounted on the perimeter of the member 28. The shells 21, 22 are enclosed in a housing 23 surmounted by a gauze canopy 30. A perforated domed plate 11 is mounted at the base of the shell 21. The baffle 31 has a large central hole 33 and a ring of smaller perforations 34 near the outside edge and is supported by wire clips 35 from perforations in the shell 21. A wick 12 is located in the channel 6 and is fed with fuel from the pipe 13 via a tube 14 closed at the lower end by a cap 19, so that foreign matter deposited therein can be readily removed. The tube 14 has a relatively large radiation area and thereby reduces pre-vaporization of the fuel. Specifications 816,203 and 816,204 are referred to.
