Abstract
527,445. Gas-producers. PONCET, J. L. P., and VALLERNAUD, J. P. A. April 12, 1939, No. 11079. [Class 55 (i)] A mixture of water vapour and air in proportions dependent upon the rate of gas generation is supplied to a gas producer by an injection nozzle, air being drawn in through a chamber 9 in which is mounted a flap 11 hinged at 12, and co-operating with a seat 13. The air passes partly through holes 23 into the bore 25 and partly through a tube 2 with a flared inlet 6 to an opening 37 in an extension 35 provided with fins 36 which cool the nozzle and heat the air. Water is admitted through a calibrated nozzle 18, flows across the flared opening 6 and excess water passes down a groove 19 to an outlet 21. Some of the water is carried by the air current through the tubes 2, the amount being dependent upon the volume of air drawn in and the extent to which the flap 11 is lifted to allow . more air to enter the tube 2. The water is vaporized by the heated fins before reaching the fuel bed. The chamber 9 is easily detachable to allow of the use of a torch for starting purposes.
