456,111. Gas producers. HUMBOLDTDEUTZMOTOREN AKT.-GES., 149, Deutz- Mulheimer Strasse, Deutz, Cologne, Germany. March 31, 1936, No. 9496. Convention date, April 11, 1935. [Class 55 (i)] In a gas producer provided with simultaneous up and down draught, the downwardly supplied air is introduced into the shaft through tubular nozzles k, y and z extending into the fuel space and arranged uniformly over the cross-section of the shaft. The auxiliary nozzles y and z may be arranged in annular rings around the central nozzle k and may extend further into the fuel bed than the latter. All the nozzles may be adjusted in height by means of clamping appliances m, a<1>, Fig. 2 and all are provided with screw-threaded apertured caps w, b<1>, the rotation of the cap screws enabling the quantity of air supplied to be regulated. A deflecting screen r of fire-proof material carried by a rod s within the central nozzle may be moved up and down to vary the width of the gap u between the base of the nozzle and the screen so as to further control the air supply. The central nozzle is connected by a telescopic tube o to the steam space of a water jacket b surrounding the base of the producer.
