Abstract

526,251. Induction manifolds. FAIRBROTHER, H. (Bayerische Motoren Werke Akt.-Ges.). March 9, 1939, No. 7679. [Class 7 (ii)] In an engine in which inlet pipes 2, 3 are connected to a common source of supply 1 and deliver charges to banks of cylinders 4, 5 respectively, periodic oscillations of the charges within the pipes are damped out by governorcontrolled pistons which adjust the effective lengths of the pipes in accordance with the engine speed.
