Abstract

[Class 146 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] In a propelling pencil having a lead-propelling rod d axially displaceable in a screw-threaded tube c which is secured in the barrel a by a fluted tube b providing housings for spare leads, and a clip g with member h placed over tube c and clamped against the upper end of the barrel by the nut e which closes the spare lead magazine, the part h has a projection j engaging in the flutings of tube b to prevent rotation of the clip on the barrel. The head f by which rod d is operated may have a skirt enclosing the nut e which is then of reduced diameter so that the external diameter of the skirt conforms with that of the barrel. In a modification the member e engages tube c fricionally, and projection j is replaced by a projection on the lower face member e which passes through an aperture in part h into engagement with the flutings.
