[Class 146 (iii).] In a propeller pencil having a screw action operated by rotation of the screw, the latter is attached to the rotatable pencil head by means of a pin or projection, provided on the screw, or on a member fixed thereto, and which fits into a recess or perforation formed in a tube fixed to the head of the pencil, the pin being maintained in the recess by an external sleeve which fits over the tube. The pin a<1> on the screw a extends through a hole in the tube s, which is preferably split and is of a springy nature so as to enable it to be readily forced over the pin a<1>, and over the tube is fitted a sleeve d held in place by solder &c. The slotted tube k which forms the usual guide for the end b<1> of the lead propeller b is fixed in the screwed member c, which unites the point section p to the barrel f, and is formed with a flange e<1> to engage a shoulder f<1> in the barrel.
