Abstract
414,206. Pencil holders. STOSSEL, M., 46, Regensdorferstrasse, H÷ngg-Z³rich, Switzerland. June 23, 1933, No. 18003. Convention date, June 24, 1932. [Class 146 (iii).] A pencil holder for use with thin flat drawing-leads is provided with a lead guide having a bore corresponding to the shape of the lead and rotatable on its axis, the lead pusher being also of rectangular cross-section and projecting into the bore of the lead guide. The casing 1 is provided with a tip 5 through which projects the lead guide 8 formed with a circular external shape in order to be rotatable in the tip. The guide is also formed with a flange 9 movable in a recess 7 in the tip so as to permit of slight longitudinal movement. The bore of the guide is rectangular to receive the lead 10 and pusher 12. The rear end of the pusher is split to provide a resilient connection with a sleeve 14 connected by a ball and socket joint to a screw 18 co-operating with a screw-threaded sleeve 4 fixed in the casing 1, the screw being rotated by means of a rectangular rod 19 and a sleeve 22 secured in the head 2 rotatable on the end of the casing. The lead guide is extended beyond the tip 5 to provide protection for the lead, and at the lower end is formed of rectangular cross-section, so that, when the device is used with a ruler, it automatically assumes the correct position for marking. The lower end of the guide is bevelled and the edges are rounded so that it will run easily over the surface, the end of the lead being flush with the end of the guide. As the lead wears, the guide is pushed inwardly to the extent allowed by the recess 7 and flange 9 ; when the guide reaches its extreme inner position, the head 2 is rotated to move the pusher forwards, the guide being also propelled due to the friction between the parts.
