Abstract

361,077. Pencil holders. LIVSEY, C., 13, Hope Street, Liverpool. Oct. 22, 1930, No. 31686. [Class 146 (iii).] The outer casing of a pencil holder is formed with one or more slots or recesses adapted to be engaged. by correspondingly formed projections on the stationary element of the propelling mechanism in order to prevent rotation during the feeding or retracting movement of the lead. As shown, applied to a screw-propelling pencil holder, the outer casing a is formed with an internal flange a<2> at the front end, the flange being provided with diametrically opposite slots a<1> in which engage projections d<2> on the longitudinally-slotted tube d of the propelling mechanism. The tube is held in place in the casing by a flange d<3> engaging the inner face of the flange a<2> and a nut screwing on to a projection d<4> of the tube d. The nut may be secured against removal by soldering or by the metal tip k which screws on to the projection d<4>. The helically-slotted tube e of the mechanism surrounds the tube d and is connected to a rotatable operating head, arranged.on the end of the casing, through the medium of a sheath f. The outer end of the sheath f is fluted to give a frictional grip with longitudinal ribs formed on a liner in the operating head.
