Abstract

The propelling pencil comprises a body with a lead holder (2) and a lead guiding tube (9) housed in this body and emerging at one end of the propelling pencil to form the writing tip. The lead advancing mechanism (5, 6) comprises a brake member exerting friction on the lead (13) engaged in the lead guiding tube (9). This braking member is mounted in an annular recess provided in the internal wall of the lead guiding tube (9), immediately next to its end. This virtually prevents the lead (13) from dropping out of the tube (9) before it has been completely used up, in contrast to known propelling pencils in which a length of about 10 mm of each lead is usually lost. <IMAGE>
