Abstract

1,131,034. Propelling pencils. DAI NIHON BUNGU K.K. 10 March, 1966 [10 March, 1965; 12 May, 1965; 29 June, 1965], No. 10657/66. Heading B6P. A magazine propelling pencil comprises a barrel 1, a tip 19, a magazine 2 for leads inside the barrel, a clutch 4 at one end of the container, and a collet member 10 having a resilient tubular part 16 provided with a plurality of longitudinal slits to support and grip the lead advanced by the clutch when the magazine is moved forwardly relative to the barrel. A plunger is provided at the rear of the pencil and may take the form of a separate member (26, Fig. 5) which engages the rear of the magazine and extends through a bore in an end cap (24) screwed into the barrel 1. Alternatively, an end cap (3, Figs. 6 and 7) may have a threaded portion which is screwed into the barrel 1 to permit the cap to be removed but which is slidable inside the barrel when the threaded portion has been screwed through the internally threaded portion of the barrel 1.
