519,116. Lubricating engine cylinders. NAPIER & SON, Ltd., D., and TRYON, H. C. Sept. 15, 1938, No. 26915. [Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] Inclined or helical grooves C<1> are provided in the lower end of the cylinder or sleeve valve so as to be overrun by the scraper rings D<2> of the piston, holes C<2> leading the oil from these grooves through the cylinder or sleeve-valve walls into the crank case. The scraper ring may be formed at one edge with recesses which come into communication with the grooves C<1>; or there may be an annular recess in the piston below the scraper ring.
