Abstract

[Class 108 (i)] An automobile sliding roof panel a has strips d of rubber or other resilient material secured along its side edges and other strips d<1>, d<2> secured along its front and rear edges arid to the front and side edges of the opening of the roof b are secured angle section bearers e the horizontal webs of which overhang these edges and are disposed above the rubber strips d, d<1> when the panel is closed. The distance between the lateral bearers e and the guide rails f supporting the front of the panel diminishes towards the front and the rails g' guiding the rear of the panel are formed with ramps g<2> so that as the panel moves to its closed position the resilient strips d, d<1> are pressed upwards into contact with the bearers e at the front and sides and the strip d<2> is pressed up against the underside front edge of the opening in the roof b, thus sealing all the edges of the roof opening. The bearer strips e are detachable so that the panel may be readily removed and if desired the bearers may be fitted to the sliding panel and the rubber strips along the edges of the roof.
