Abstract

942,395. Deck lights and hatch covers. S. H. STOTT. Feb. 22, 1961 [Feb. 22, 1960], No. 6210/60. Heading B7S. [Also in Division E1] A deck or roof light or hatch cover comprises a closed rectangular frame having mounted therein a sheet panel 9 of glass or other material between an upper part 6 angled to cover the panel edges and a lower part 1, 2, 3 providing a support for the panel the upper part 6 having a skirt 4 surrounding the kerb 2 formed by the lower part and a clearance 11 is left between the lowermost edge of the panel 9 and the adjacent frame side 8 which is a vertical end angled strip, for drainage within the frame. The kerb may be provided with air vents and the skirt may be provided with louvres. In a modification (Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the frame is supported by a kerb and movable flaps are provided between the kerb and the underside of the panel to adjust ventilation through the louvres. The upper part may be hinged at one side to the kerb. The panel 9 may drain into a gutter section welded to a series of box brackets supported on the kerb.
