Abstract

1356874 Camping vehicles D L LEONARD 31 Jan 1972 4471/72 Heading B7B [Also in Division E1] A collapsible tent, particularly adapted to be fitted to a vehicle roof, includes a base frame 11, a side frame 13 pivotally connected thereto, supports 28, 29 for a tent cover 27 and cables 30, attached to both frames and the supports, the side frame 13 being supported in the open position by the cables. Hinges 21a-21c interconnecting the frame allow frame 13 to be moved to a position overlying frame 11, wherein the supports 28, 29, cover 27 and cables 30 are stowed between the frames (Fig. 4, not shown). On moving frame 13 to the open position cables 30 effect erection of the supports; a lever (39) (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) is provided to aid movement of frame 11. Each frame is provided with upstanding edges 15, 17, 18 and an inner peripheral rib between which a drain channel is defined, and a weather strip (25) (Figs. 6-9, not shown) is provided at adjacent edges of the frames. Folding mattresses 23, 24 may be provided, and an access opening closable by a retractable cover is provided in the base of frame 11, the opening being adapted to mate with an opening provided in the vehicle roof.
