1385118 Convertible vehicles C I AUTOHOMES Ltd 7 Aug 1973 [17 Oct 1972] 47736/72 Heading B7B In an elevating vehicle roof assembly, a roof panel 3 adapted to cover an opening in a fixed roof is supported in the raised position by rigid wall elements hinged along their bottom edges to the fixed roof and divided by a horizontal hinge line for collapsing. In a preferred embodiment and walls 7, 8 are hinged also along their top edge to the roof panel, but side walls 9, 10 are not connected to the roof panel 3 and are raised into position only when the end walls 7, 8 have been unfolded. Spring assisters 45, 46 assist in the raising operation. A suitable alternative to the assistors would be an hydraulically actuated piston and cylinder arrangement.
