Abstract

A semi-trailer has a load lifting plarform 17 in a side opening 19 just rearwards of the raised floor 12. The platform is raised and lowered in vertical guides 24 by an hydraulic ram and As housed .partly within the vehicle and partly projecting therefrom. The projecting portion may be hinged at 34 so that it can be folded up to be flush with the vehicle side -closing -the space below a shutter 20. Rubber webs are provided, like roller blinds, to close the gaps around the periphery of the platform which occur whenever it is above or below the lower floor level of the vehicle.
