Abstract

1,102,963. Lift trucks. R. PAYNE. 30 Jan., 1967 [15 Nov., 1965; 28 April, 1966], Nos. 48347/65 and 18737/66. Heading B8H. A lift truck consists of a fork 3 or other load carrier pivotally mounted on the outer end of a boom 4 which comprises two articulated sections 6, 7 adapted to fold down, Fig. 1 (not shown), to bring the fork 3 down to ground level. An hydraulic ram (11), Fig. 3 (not shown), connected between the truck chassis and the boom section 6, a ram 12 connected between the boom sections 6, 7 and a ram 13 between the boom section 7 and the fork 3 are interconnected and controlled such that the fork 3 moves vertically and maintains its orientation with respect to the ground during upward swinging and downward folding of the boom. The Specification describes in detail an electrohydraulic control system, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). In a modification, the truck is provided with an overriding control so that the rams can be operated independently of each other and with a counterweight which is movable along the truck as the boom is raised and lowered, Fig. 5 (not shown).
