Abstract

1,233,364. Mounting jib cranes on aircraft. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd. 29 Aug., 1968 [1 Sept., 1967], No. 40183/67. Heading B7W. [Also in Division B8] A hoisting apparatus installed within an aircraft fuselage comprises a winch 13 rotatable on support structure between positions internal and external of the fuselage and being supported by a variable length member 10. The winch 13 and bottom end of the member 10 are connected by universal joints to the fuselage adjacent the top and bottom of a cargo opening 19, the top of the member 10 being pivoted to the winch 13. A side bracing strut 16 universally jointed at one end to the winch is detachably connected at the other end 17 to the fuselage. The member 10 is telescopically extendable by manual, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical means, to lift the winch 13 above the opening 19 when outside of the fuselage.
