Abstract

1390206 Tower cranes with telescopic jibs POTAIN 15 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 11920/72 Heading B8B A tower crane comprises a telescopic jib 7, 9 pivoted at 8 on a mast 4 mounted for slewing on a turntable (3) on a conventional chassis (1), Fig. 1 (not shown). A motor 26 drives at the same time three drums 24, 27, 28 arranged in line. The drum 24 controls a cable 25 arranged to luff the jib 7, 9 while the drums 27, 28 control cables 10, 11 controlling the extension and retraction of the jib 7, 9, the result being that, as the jib 7, 9 is luffed its length is varied automatically. Fig. 9, shows the movement of a load 31 from a raised, dotted-line, position of the jib 7, 9 to a lowered, full-line, position.
