[Class 141] In trousers, shorts, and like garments, in which the side pocket openings extend to the top of the garment, and divide the waistband into a rear section and two front sections which are connected to the rear section by adjusting devices, these front and rear sections are connected together by flexible members located forwardly of the side pocket openings and forming folds permitting expansion &c. of the waistband by operation of the adjusting devices and the outer walls of the side pockets and the front portions of the inner pocket walls thereof are secured at the top to the front waistband sections, and the rear portions of the inner pocket walls are secured at the top to the rear waisband section. In the form shown, the rear waistband section B is provided with folded - back extensions C which are sewn to the front waistband sections A, A', at D, and the front and rear waistband sections are adjustably connected together by external straps and buckles E. F. The front portions of the inner pocket walls G' are secured to the front waistband sections at G<3>, and the rear portions of the inner pocket walls are secured to the rear waistband section at G<4>, the outer pocket walls being secured to the front waistband sections. In a modification, the free ends of the external side straps pass through apertures to the inner side of the waistband. In another modification, the external straps and buckles are replaced by buttons and buttonholes or other suitable fasteners. In a further modification, a gap is formed in the inner wall of each pocket. In a still further modification, the extension on each rear waistband it adjustably secured to the inner side of the adjacent front waistband section.
