Abstract

756,465. Garment waistbands. WHITE, J. A. Dec. 2, 1954 [Dec. 17, 1953], No. 35194/53. Class 141. An extensible waistband for trousers, skirts, &c. is formed in at least two separate pieces 12, 13, Fig. 1, the end portion 15 of the piece 13 overlapping the adjacent end portion 16 of the piece 12 and passing through a slot 17, so that the extremities 18, 19 of the end portions extend in opposite directions around the inner side of the waistband between the waistband and lining. Strips of elastic material 21, 22 are stitched to the respective extremities 18, 19 at 23, 24, Fig. 2, and to the waistband at 25, 26 A male snap fastener element 44 secured to the end portion 15 may be engaged with either of the two female snap fastener elements 45, 46 attached to the end portion 16. The side seams 31 are left unstitched above the points 32, and the rearward extension 33 of the front part of the garment overlaps the extension 34 of the rear part so as to permit relative movement between the two pieces of the waistband.
